Project overview

The proposal converts a 441-square-foot garage and adds 64.58 square feet, creating a 505.58-square-foot, one-bedroom ADU. The rear building sits apart from the existing main house, with its own entrance into the living area.

The kitchen shares the front of the plan with the living room. The bedroom sits behind, with a bathroom and closet alongside it. An existing laundry room remains identified separately, making it clear which spaces belong to the new dwelling and which were already there.

Design decisions

  1. Build on the garage footprint

    The drawings separate the garage conversion from the small addition, showing where existing space is reused and where the building expands.

  2. Keep the everyday spaces together

    The entrance opens to the living room beside the kitchen; the bedroom has a separate door farther into the home.

  3. Account for the existing laundry

    The retained laundry sits beside the new kitchen and bathroom. Plans and sections show this relationship instead of folding it into the ADU description.
